What does it take to be able to brand?
I’d built quite a few brands over my life, real estate, but obviously most recently in the personal development world. I remember when I started and I wasn’t really … I had absolutely no experience, no training, nothing. I started from scratch really as far as Google’s concerned. I could Google myself and mine isn’t a very common name. You could search for Bernardo Moya, and there are a few out there. I’m not claiming to be the only one in the world. But there wasn’t that many searches. I think it was under maybe 50,000, 60,000. So if you Google a name, I mean, listen to someone like Paul Smith or John Smith or something like that, obviously, you’re going to find millions of them. And because there’s, it’s more of a common name, bless them.
But the bottom line is that when I Googled myself, at the beginning, it was … there was hardly any, as I said, 30,000, 40,000 searches under that name. And obviously I didn’t really appear much, maybe some of the real estate things I did, but you know, I am … I have seen the internet start, really. So, but I remember when I started, there was obviously nothing, not much there. And if I fast forward now and I fast forward, what, 11, 12 years, well, depending the days, depending on what Google you go to, is it .com, .co, .uk? Sometimes it’s gone as far as eight and nine million searches. And, I was quite surprised to see that over the years, it did grow. And from that small number to 300,000 to 400,000 to 500,000, then a million then and so on.
So it’s taken a long time.
And actually I was pleasantly surprised, which I was shocked to be honest, to see that my name even showed up more times than Jack Canfield’s, which is ridiculous. I mean, this is the author of Chicken Soup for the Soul. But what does it take to build a brand? It takes a long time. It takes a long time and it takes a lot of content. So I invite you to Google, kind of what I’ve done, and look again, I’m not taking … I’m not owning the name, Bernardo Moya. But literally page one, two, three, four, five, and so on, you’ll see that it’s pretty much 90, 95%, all my content, six, page seven. And if you look under images and if you look up under videos and you’ll literally see that, we’ve just literally, I’ve been nonstop, nonstop, pumping content out there for years and years and years.
And it started with obviously, writing articles for magazines and then the podcast. And then obviously the expo and a lot of the videos, a lot of the interviews that I’ve done with my aspiring people. And then The Best You online, and then the Best You TV. So there’s things related to, then obviously my books and so on. So the bottom line is it takes a long time. It takes a long time to build a brand and it … a lot of content out there. And because, what do you have to do? Do you have to be active on YouTube? Yes. Do you have to be active on Instagram? Yes. Do you have to be active on Facebook? Yes. On different Facebooks? Yes. And, the answer goes on and on. Do you need web pages? Yes. Do you need to get interviewed by people?
Do you need to write articles for publications and magazines? Yes.
Yes, yes. Yes. And, the bottom line is that it takes a very long time and it takes a lot of effort, a lot of work and a lot of constant work. So, a lot of the things that some people might think of this is a one day wonder. Trust me, it’s not, there’s no day wonder. It’s all down to hard work. So it does take a long time. You have to put a lot of work in, you have to really make sure that you use every platform available possible. And look, trust me, there’s so many days I do not want to post something. And I really use it, a lot of the times I use it for business and I do use it to share sometimes my stories on my personal Instagram while I share a little bit more. And I’m opening up more and more. But basically, I’ve got two different YouTube channels or three, sorry, three different YouTube channels.
I’ve got three or four or five or six even, or seven Facebook groups, different Facebook groups. I obviously have a LinkedIn. I’ve got around quite a lot followers on LinkedIn. On my Facebook pages, on my Facebook group pages combined, probably I don’t know, combined all of them, probably 200,000, 250,000 people on all my Facebooks. I’ve got a list of around 160,000 people. I’ve got obviously some followers on Instagram, 12,000, 15,000 on one, 12,000, 15,000, the other 20,000 on the other. So, you add all these things up together and obviously, it gives us a big reach. But it’s taken a long time and it takes a long time. But on the other hand, how can you do it? How can you make it easier? Well, you can make it easier by what I talk about on my program, Rise To The Top, OPP, other people’s platforms. Other people’s platforms. If you want to fly, you don’t go and buy an airplane, or you just don’t go and hire a private jet.
You go and just get on a plane with some other people, and then off you go, you’re in your destination. Because that’s what airlines do. If you’re interested in obviously, getting your book published well, ideally you should work with someone that’s already published a book before. You don’t go and create a publishing house. And so on, the example goes that way. So use other people’s platforms.
So one of the things that we’re doing with my brands, Bernardo Moya, my other brand, The Best You, and NLP Life Training, is we’re helping speakers, coaches, trainers, therapists, transitionists, people that want to build a brand. We’re helping them to use our brand because at the end of the day, we’ve done that work. So you’re going to get that instant, immediate exposure, that instant and immediate credibility. And those posts, because the webpages that we have, The Best You Magazine, The Best You Expo, because they rank so well and they rank so high, you will be ranking so high. So, that’s one of the things that I really wanted to emphasize. It does take time, but if you use other people’s platforms, well, you can make it happen a lot quicker. So be smart, be clever and make sure that you don’t spend all the money that I have. Don’t spend the 10 years that I have. You don’t have to. And use other people’s platforms. Okay?
