Why Would You? Use Other People’s Platforms

So one of the things I advise my clients and the people that I coach is about OPP, other people’s platforms, but there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Why would you? Why should you? As a marketer, what you need to do is you need to find the ways that you can create an event, put an event together with obviously the less investment as possible and to have the maximum reach possible. And how can you do that without spending ridiculous amounts of money on Google AdWords, or Facebook, or whatever? And that’s why I’ve always advised people to use other people platforms. Now, look, I use Eventbrite, Events.com, 10Times, all these other platforms to promote my events. Why? Because I want people to attend. I want to create as much awareness as possible.

But what I saw was in the personal professional growth industry or in general, it’s a very fragmented one where everyone would do their own event, their own gig, Robert Kiyosaki, Tony Robbins, and so on. And, that was it. Everyone did their own thing. And I thought, wouldn’t it be better, would it make much more sense if people would combine forces and get together? And then that’s where I came up with the idea of The Best You. Because a lot of people are so generous with their knowledge, with their wisdom, with their newsletters, with their content, their courses, their webinars. And I thought if I could get those people to share that in a weekend or in a week and together, and then I could connect with those that want to learn, find inspiration, how amazing would that be? And that’s how the whole concept came, and also it’s by joining forces.

Look, you’re not going to have an opportunity to share the stage with Tony Robbins, unless you have millions of people following you, and unless you can’t share the stage with Grant Cardone unless you’re John Travolta or someone like that. The bottom line is there wasn’t a platform and that’s why I came up with the idea of The Best You. And the maths are quite simple. If it’s a hundred of us and each of us invite a hundred people, it’s 10,000 people. And it’s the law of averages because some people can invite 20 and others could invite 1,500. So that’s how The Best You Expo grew.

And the reason why it makes sense and it makes sense for other people to use our platform is because it’s all taken care of. All people need to do is obviously invest an amount of money, but a very small, relatively small amounts of money. And then they provide us their talk, the title of their talk, their bio, their logos and then we upload that on our page. And then we start promoting, promoting through newsletters, through social media, and together we bring a lot of people in and hopefully, well, at the end of the day, you have new customers, new clients. That’s what The Best You Expo has done. That’s what we’ve done so beautifully over the years. And that’s how this event has literally grown and grown and grown. And now, not only live but also virtual, which I’m very, very excited about. I think this is a great opportunity. I’ve always wanted to have our events. I’ve wanted our events to be streamed. I wanted us to reach tens of thousands of people.

And although some of us might be a little bit fed up now have so much online and virtual stuff, it’s here to stay. And I’m going to talk more about that in another video, but I wanted you to really appreciate and understand that don’t try and reinvent the wheel. There’s no need, use other people’s platforms, take advantage of it. And then it’s down to you.

And I’ve seen it, when it comes down to an expo, we’ve had people with the best speaking slots at the best times on the best day and there was hardly anyone in their room or in their booth. And then I’ve seen people with not so good speaking slots and not such a great location and they were packed and they did really well. Why? It’s down to energy. Everything and anything in life is down to energy. And what I love about our events is the energy that we get because everyone is there ready to learn. So I invite you to use other people platforms. That’s my advice. And I think if you do that, it’s going to be so much easier and you could really fast forward the process of succeeding and standing out and rising to the top. Thank you.
